Pinyon Jay Survey Protocol Training Workshop For Agency Biologists


Great Basin Bird Observatory is pleased to offer a Pinyon Jay Survey Protocol Training Workshop. This workshop will cover Pinyon Jay life history, behavior and identification, conservation concerns, and standard and accepted survey techniques specific to Pinyon Jays. The content of the workshop is designed for biologists wishing to conduct field surveys for Pinyon Jays in accordance with standard protocols developed by the Pinyon Jay Working Group of Partners in Flight. There will be 2 classroom sessions covering protocols in detail. Day 1: life history and identification; day 2: landscape level monitoring; and multiple survey protocols including nesting/breeding survey protocols. An overview on ESRI Field Maps and data collection using field maps will be provided. Each day will include a field session, and day 3 will be a field day with supervised data collection hours. Participants will all receive a certificate of completion of this survey training.

The Pinyon Jay Protocol Training Workshop will be held at the River Fork Ranch, 381 Genoa Lane, in Minden, NV. Wednesday, November 13th through Friday, November, 15th, 2024.
