Join the Great Basin Bird Observatory for a weekend in Eastern Nevada’s high country!

  • Thomas Canyon Campground (map)

We will be spending the weekend in beautiful Lamoille Canyon of the Ruby Mountains.

We plan to lead several trips, including trekking up to island lake for the Himalayan Snowcock, and cruising Ruby Valley looking for Bobolink. The Ruby Mountains have beautiful coniferous forest, aspen stands, riparian areas with babbling brooks, and glacial cirques with snowfields.

It is a wonderful place to beat the heat, and the only place in Nevada to see a mountain goat! This time of year MacGilivray’s Warbler, Lewis’s Woodpecker, Fox Sparrow, and Red Crossbill can be seen among many other montane specialties. Meet us out there or carpool with us, check us out on Facebook or contact us for more info

Cost for this event is $25 for members and $50 for non-members.

If you prefer to pay in cash and get details on this event, please RSVP by emailing Ned Bohman here.
