Cemeteries can be great places to find birds, and are also a great place to visit on Halloween. We thought we’d combine the two and invite you to stroll with us through the old tombstones at the Silver Terrace Cemetery in Virginia City. While 8 AM may not be the spookiest hour, it’ll be easier to see birds this way…Feel free to come in costume, or not! Several of Nevada’s cemeteries are filled with trees and surrounded by stark desert, this attracts migrating birds to seek solace in the trees. This will be a great trip for beginning birders! While Virginia City is not exactly surrounded by stark desert, and the prime of migration has passed, we are still likely to see late migrants and fun local birds! Please RSVP to outreach@gbbo.org.
