In this continuation of the Great Basin Bird Observatory’s ear birding series, Ned Bohman will lead participants on a walk at the Thomas Creek Trailhead, located off the Mount Rose Highway. On this walk, we will emphasize bird vocalizations, and learn how to differentiate between some of the more common species. Along this trail we are likely to encounter Brown Creepers, Mountain Chickadees, multiple species of Nuthatch, and everyone’s favorite vocal tricksters, Cassin’s Finch. This time of year we can expect to see and hear many juveniles and loud nestlings as well.
Please RSVP to outreach@gbbo.org if you are interested. There are limited spaces available on a first come first serve basis.
