Migratory Bird Walk

  • 1755 East Plumb Lane Reno, NV, 89502 United States (map)

On this walk, Ned Bohman will lead attendees through the Numana Wetlands. This area is a rich and relatively undisturbed stretch of lowland riparian habitat, an increasingly uncommon sight in the Great Basin. During fall migration, cottonwood gallery forests like these can host many dozens of species, including unexpected species seeking refuge from harsh desert environments. By this point in the season we are nearing the end of fall migration, and many species will have already left, such as Western Kingbirds and swallows. However vireos, warblers, and some flycatchers will still be passing through, as well as later migrants like sparrows.

Because this walk is a little farther out of town, we will meet at the GBBO office at 1755 East Plumb Lane, on the west side of the building, to arrange carpools. There are limited spaces available, so reserve yours today with an RSVP to outreach@gbbo.org.
