Crystal Peak Park: Birding for fall residents and finch movement

  • Crystal Peak Park 561 Crystal Park Rd, Verdi, NV 89439 (map)

This continuation of Great Basin Bird Observatory’s Earbirding series will be led by friend of GBBO, Ben Sonnenberg. In standard fashion for these walks, emphasis will be placed on the sounds birds are making. This walk will move slowly and explain why you are hearing the specific sounds you are hearing. At this time of year these sounds can be rather cryptic, and will be mostly contact calls and alarm calls, rather than the showy displays and songs of the spring and summer. Rather than moving quickly and trying to see as many species as possible, the goal will be to learn about what birds are being seen. By this point in the season most migrants have moved through, though some sparrows, raptors, and other stragglers are still on the move.

Spaces are limited so please RSVP today to outreach@gbbo.org to hold your spot!
