Bird Phenology Walk with Ned Bohman

  • Tahoe Rim Trail North Trailhead Carson City, NV United States (map)

GBBO’s Outreach Biologist, Ned Bohman, will lead participants on this walk around Spooner Lake. Participants can plan to spend about 3 hours walking a maximum of 2.5 miles, and likely a bit less on the distance. This will depend how quickly we move and how far around the loop we get. This area features high elevation coniferous forest habitat, aspen stands, as well as some wetland and open water habitat. With such diversity of habitat in a relatively small space, we can expect to see a fairly large number of bird species. During this walk, Ned will focus on explaining why the birds are doing what they are doing, and why we are seeing the species we are seeing. We may also find the opportunity to discuss confusing juvenile plumage and why some birds aren’t looking like they “should”.

There are limited spaces available, so reserve yours today! Please RSVP to outreach@gbbo.org. We will meet at the Spooner Lake/Tahoe Rim Trail Northbound trailhead on the north side of highway 50, just east of Spooner Summit.
